LAS VEGAS--TCU head coach Gary Patterson, senior quarterback Andy Dalton and senior safety Tejay Johnson return to Fort Worth Wednesday afternoon following a trip to Las Vegas, where the group has been taking part in the annual Mountain West Conference Football Media Days held at Red Rock Resort.
The group experienced a hectic stay featuring a loaded schedule with interviews, meetings and social gatherings, among other events. Included in the itinerary for TCU was the announcement of its unanimous selection as the media's favorite to win the 2010 conference championship, as well as three Frogs picked for major awards and eight for all-conference honors.
The week began Monday afternoon with Patterson attending the annual head coaches meeting, which was followed by the Commissioner's Coaches' Dinner. The players had a function of their own to attend, as the MWC staff set up a dinner and bowling challenge in the VIP area of Red Rock Lanes, the resort's bowling center.
The media portion of the three-day event began in earnest Tuesday morning. Patterson, Dalton and Johnson each did numerous interviews with print, television, radio and on-line media outlets.
In addition to local media from the MWC media markets in attendance and national outlets, each of the three conference television partners (Versus, CBS College Sports and The Mtn.) had crews either putting together preseason programs or gathering interviews and promotional spots that will run during upcoming telecasts this fall.
Local media from Fort Worth in attendance included Stefan Stevenson, TCU beat writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and TCU/ISP Sports Network play-by-play team Brian Estridge and John Denton.
TCU's media responsibilities continue Wednesday morning following MWC commissioner Craig Thompson's annual State of the Conference address and are scheduled to conclude by Noon.
