
Three Frogs Tabbed Louisville Slugger All-Americans

FORT WORTH, Texas - A trio of TCU Horned Frog baseball players have been tabbed Louisville Slugger All-Americans. Bryan Holaday, Matt Purke and Steven Maxwell earned second-team accolades from Collegiate Baseball.
Fresh off being named a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award, senior catcher Bryan Holaday was named second-team All-American. He has enjoyed an outstanding senior campaign, earning first-team all-conference accolades as well as being named MVP of both the Houston College Classic and the Mountain West Conference tournament. He is hitting .357 in 57 games played this season with 12 home runs and 46 RBIs.
The Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Year, Maxwell has had a solid season on the mound in 2010. He leads the starting rotation with a 2.73 ERA in 15 starts and has combined to shut out three opponents. In 89 innings pitched, the redshirt-junior has fanned 77 and is limiting opponents to a .239 batting average against.
Selected as the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, Matt Purke has enjoyed a breakout season for the nationally-ranked baseball team. He ranks third in the country with his 12-0 record. He has posted a 3.34 ERA in 16 appearances. In 89 innings pitched, the left-hander has struck out 113 and he is holding opponents to a .225 batting average against.
TCU places multiple players on the All-American squad for the first time since 2006 when Jake Arrieta (2nd team) and Chad Huffman (3rd team) were honored. Only one other time have three individuals been named All-America and that came in 1994 when Adam Robson (2nd team), Darren Tawwater (3rd team) and Tim Grieve (3rd team) were honored.
In total, the Mountain West Conference had six All-American honorees. Utah's C.J. Cron earned first-team accolades, while New Mexico's Rafael Neda and Justin Howard were recognized on the third team.
