
Frogs And Bruins Square Off Monday Night

OMAHA, Neb. - TCU continues play in the 2010 College World Series Monday night. The Horned Frogs will face off against the sixth-seeded UCLA Bruins, who defeated third-seeded Florida, 11-3, Saturday night. Game time for the winner's bracket game is set for 8 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN2.
TODAY'S STARTERS
TCU will hand the ball to sophomore right-hander Kyle Winkler who enters the game with a 12-1 record this season. Winkler was the winning pitcher in the Frogs' 4-1 Super Regional win over Texas last weekend that clinched the Frogs' berth in the CWS. On the season, Winkler has posted a 2.84 ERA in 17 appearances. He leads the staff with 114 innings pitched and has struck out 90.
UCLA will counter with staff ace, Gerrit Cole. A former first-round draft pick by the New York Yankees, Cole is 10-3 in 17 starts this season. He has racked up 138 strikeouts in 108 innings pitched. The most impressive stat is his opponents' .195 batting average against. He has shown a penchant for wildness with 49 walks, 10 hit batters and seven wild pitches this season.
WHAT'S AT STAKE
The winner of this contest is in the driver's seat as they will get to advance to Friday's bracket championship game. The loser of the game will fall into the loser's bracket and will play the winner of the Florida/Florida State game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. That winner of that game would then have to defeat Monday's winner twice to advance to the College World Series championship series.
