
Raastad Has Strong Opening Round At MWC Championships

SEASIDE, Calif. -- Rachel Raastad's 73 has her tied for third individually, while TCU is fourth after Thursday's opening round of the Mountain West Conference Championship.
The 22nd-ranked Horned Frogs totaled a 310 and are just four shots behind second-place Colorado State. With a 6-over-par 294, No. 21 New Mexico has a 12-stroke lead over the Rams.
Raastad is two strokes off the lead. New Mexico's Jodi Ewart and Rebecca Hellbom sit atop the leader board after carding 1-under-par 71s.
A sophomore from Asker, Norway, Raastad bogeyed her opening two holes. The No. 60-ranked player in the nation later recorded birdies on three consecutive holes en route to a team-high four birdies on the day.
TCU freshman Louise Kristersson shot a 78. Horned Frog teammates Melissa Loh and Brooke Beeler posted a 79 and 80, respectively.
