
Equestrian Ready For SMU

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 8 Horned Frogs will close their regular season this Friday against SMU in Mansfield.
The game against the Mustangs, which was originally scheduled for Feb. 14, will begin at 10 a.m. at Fieldstone Park. TCU and SMU will compete in only Hunt Seat on Friday.
"We are excited and ready to host SMU this Friday. We had a lot of great rides against Oklahoma State last weekend, so we are looking to close the season with a big win at home," said assistant coach Kindel Huffman. "We have been preparing for this match for quite some time and I think we are ready."

Scouting SMU
The Mustangs, who will be the home team on Friday, are currently on a three-match win streak, having defeated No. 3 Texas A&M, 9-3, to open the month of February.
Against the Aggies, Emily Gardner earned MVP honors to lead SMU to a 6-0 sweep in Equitation over Fences. Overall, SMU outscored A&M in the event, 437-322. The Mustangs' Kristen Collins had a solid day, going 2-0 in competition.
SMU, who hasn't played since Feb. 5, brings a 3-3 record into Mansfield.
Scouting TCU
TCU, who is 9-7 overall, comes into this Friday's match against SMU, having won two out of their last three contests.
Several Horned Frogs had solid outings last weekend at Oklahoma State, including junior's Tassie Munroe and Jessica Hagen who both tallied victories in Stillwater. Callie Selchau also helped TCU tie the nation's No. 4 ranked team in Equitation on the Flat, winning 76-73 over Jessie Brothers.
Victoria Lee, a Cordova, Tenn., native, scored the Purple and White's lone point in Equitation over Fences last weekend, downing Hannah Beresford, 79-60.
Taylor Frederick has led the Horned Frog attack on the English side this season, claiming eight victories in 14 Fences competitions, while Jessica Hagen has had some success in Equitation on the Flat, winning seven games, while also collecting four MVP accolades. Freshman Haley Jacobi has made her presence felt as of late as well, going 3-1 in Equitation on the Flat, while Lauren Quiroz has recorded seven victories in Fences.
Frogs Stay In National Polls
The TCU equestrian program enters this Friday's competition in the top 10 of the Women's Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll, coming into the SMU game at No. 8. Overall, TCU has faced No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 5 South Carolina, No. 6 Kansas State, No. 7 Baylor, No. 9 New Mexico State and No. 10 Fresno State.
The Frogs upended No. 5 South Carolina and No. 1 Georgia to close the month of September. TCU also downed No. 10 Fresno State, 10-6, on Oct. 10. Finally, the Frogs recently defeated No. 3 Texas A&M at the Fort Worth Stock Show. TCU has also setback Tennessee-Martin twice this season. UT-Martin is currently receiving votes in the national poll.
The poll will be released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for March 16, 2010. The final poll will be released April 21, 2010.

TCU Spread Throughout Individual National Rankings
The Frogs have stacked up well against the rest of the nation this season. Overall, TCU has three different student-athletes ranked in the top 10 in their respective events.
Senior Carrie von Uhlit currently sits at No. 1 in Reining and No. 5 in Horsemanship, while Courtney Chown is No. 3 overall in Horsemanship. Junior Kelsey Huffman rounds out the TCU contingency in Horsemanship at No. 6 in the nation. She is also No. 7 in Reining.
The Series Between TCU and SMU
In four years, the Frogs and Mustangs have competed against each other four different times with the series being tied at 2-2. TCU's captured an 8-4 decision over SMU in 2008.
Last spring, the Frogs fell to the Mustangs, 8-3. Jessica Hagen claimed MVP honors, while Milana Trimino and Taylor Frederick also scored victories in 2009.
