FORT WORTH, Texas-- Festus Kigen and Eboni Mangum were named TCU Athletes of the Month, while Josh Elander and Carrie von Uhlit collected TCU Scholar-Athlete of the month honors.
Festus Kigen claimed first-place honors in the men's 5,000 meters with an NCAA provisional qualifying and seasonal-best time of 14:14.19 at the Mountain West Conference Championships. His time, which broke the previous meet record, was also an Albuquerque Convention Center record. By winning the event, Kigen captured the first Mountain West Conference title in the 5,000 meters in TCU history and the first conference 5,000-meter title since former Flyin' Frog great Kip Kangogo won Conference USA in 2005. He also earned runner-up honors in the 3,000 meters at the championships. Earlier, this month, Kigen barely missed breaking the school record in the men's 3,000 meters at the Husky Classic, clocking a personal-best and NCAA provisional time of 7:58.47 to place 17th overall out of 65 runners. Kigen's time, which is the second-fastest time ever recorded in school history, was the 13th-fastest collegiate time in the event.

12-7 win over SHSU, he drove in the go-ahead run in the first inning with a two-out infield single. Elander is tied for the team lead with two walks, posting an on-base percentage of .833. Additionally, he broke the scoreless tie with a double of the left field wall in the same game. Elander has recorded a hit in every game this season.
