FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team traveled to Houston, Texas this pas weekend to take part in the Texas Tornados Collegiate Invitational. The Frogs posted a 3-1 weekend against tough competition.
Coming off the most successful season in school history, the volleyball began training on March 1st. The Frogs cut their spring break short to return to campus for two days of training before heading to Houston.
TCU started early Saturday morning with a straight-set win over Tulane (25-14; 25-22). They went on to sweep LSU in the second match (25-16; 25-18) before dropping two sets to Baylor. TCU finished strong with a big win against the University of Louisiana (25-14; 25-14).
Every member of the squad participated in the four matches and gained valuable playing experience.
"This was a good start to our spring," commented Head Coach Prentice Lewis. "We still have a lot of work to do in the certain areas of the game. We need to work on our blocking and situational passing but it was a good step in getting better as a team and gaining game experience. This team has a good foundation, they just need to work together to reach the goals they have set for themselves".
TCU will continue their spring season at UT Arlington in the Maverick Activities Center (MAC) on Saturday, March 27th. The Frogs are slated to begin at 10 a.m. against Stephen F. Austin and will also compete against UTSA, Louisiana Tech and Oklahoma.
