On The Court With Irene Hester

FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Irene Hester had a solid season for the TCU volleyball team this season, helping the Horned Frogs to their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Gofrogs.com recently caught up with the soon-to-be senior.
GF: What did you do over the winter break?
IH: Over winter break I worked out and played volleyball up until the bowl game. Kristen (Hester), Kourtney (Edwards) and I flew to Arizona and met up with Megan (Munce), Sarah (Joeckel), Kylie (Pont), and Katelyn (Blackwood). We all stayed at Megan's uncle's ranch house and needless to say we had a blast!
GF: What is it like to play along side your sister, Kristen?
IH: I absolutely LOVE playing with my sister. To be honest, we have been playing together for so long, it would be weird to not have Kris here. She knows exactly what to say/not say to me when I'm in a mental-slump and is always able to make me laugh if I have had a rough day.
GF: Tell us your favorite memory from 2009.
IH: My favorite memory would have to be beating Rice in our first appearance at the NCAA's. I cannot explain what it felt like finally being at the place that we, as a program, have talked about reaching since my freshman year. It is one I will always remember.
GF: You will be a senior next year, what has the last three years been like for you
IH: My last three seasons have been surreal. This program has taken HUGE strides and I am so fortunate to be apart of it. Not only does this help TCU volleyball, but it helps us (the players) in life knowing that no matter how hard the task may seem with hard work and perseverance anything is possible.
