FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving teams both earned Scholar All-America honors for the fall 2009 semester, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced on Thursday. The award marks the 35th time the women have claimed the honor, while the men have now met the criteria 13 times.
The women ended the fall semester with a 3.24 team grade-point average and the men earned a 3.01 GPA. To be eligible for the award, each team must earn a minimum GPA of 3.0. The Frogs were among 41 men's and 112 women's Division I teams to receive the award. The honor is based on the overall academic performance of each team and is given out at the end of each semester.
TCU joined UNLV as the only two Mountain West Conference program's to be represented on both the men's and women's lists. BYU, Colorado State and New Mexico were also slated on the women's side.
The CSCAA recognized TCU's academic success with a certificate of Scholar All-America status for the fall and spring for the 2009 season.
TCU will return home to conclude the 2009-10 regular dual meet season with a MWC showdown with No. 22 UNLV on Feb. 6. TCU will honor the 2009-10 senior class 10 minutes before the first event, which is set to begin at 4 p.m.
