FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 11 TCU Horned Frog baseball team kicks off its 2010 campaign Friday night when they host 2009 NCAA Regional participant Sam Houston State. Steven Maxwell is slated to be the opening night starter for the TCU. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. at Lupton Stadium. The three game series will run through Sunday.

The Horned Frogs enter the season ranked as high as No. 11 (Baseball America & NCBWA) in the preseason polls.
TCU is the preseason favorite to win the league for the fifth straight season.
The Frogs return 10 pitchers from a year ago and 12 position players.
The roster features 11 newcomers (five pitchers and six newcomers).
TCU is 4-2 in openers under Jim Schlossnagle, including 2-1 at home.
TCU is one of just 16 programs to have appeared in the last six NCAA Regionals.

The Horned Frogs will play 28 home games in 2010.
TCU holds a 161-53 (.752) record all-time at Lupton Stadium.
Under Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle, the Horned Frogs are 140-44 (.761) at Lupton Stadium.
TCU saw a record-number of 69,290 fans pass through the turnstiles in 2009.
SAM HOUSTON STATE NOTABLES
The Bearkats qualified for the NCAA Regionals last season, traveling to the Rice Regional.
The Bearkats were picked to finish second in the Southland this season.
SHSU returns 11 letterwinners from the squad, but just three starters.
All three starters on the mound for the Bearkats return.
SHSU went 36-24 in 2009.
SERIES HISTORY - SAM HOUSTON STATE
TCU and Sam Houston State will be meeting for the 65th time on Friday night. TCU holds a 35-29 series lead.
The Frogs and the Bearkats have not met on the diamond since the Frogs traveled to Huntsville in 2005, a 12-6 loss for TCU.
The Bearkats have won three straight against TCU, including a 7-3 win at Lupton Stadium in 2004.
TCU's last win against SHSU came on Feb. 24, 2002 (10-8) in Fort Worth.
