FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's golf program will tee off the 2010 spring campaign in Kamuela, Hawai'i, as the Horned Frogs will participate in the 20th Annual Mauna Lani Invitational at the Mauna Lani Resort North Course beginning on Wednesday morning.
The Frogs - who enter the tournament ranked fourth in the country - will be one of six top-10 programs participating in the Mauna Lani Invitational as they are joined by Oklahoma State (1st), Stanford (2nd), Florida State (5th), Arizona State (7th) and Washington (8th) in addition to five other top-25 programs.
Senior Travis Woolf, junior Tom Hoge, sophomore Johan de Beer and freshmen Pontas Gad and Daniel Jennevret will head the lineup for the first tournament of the spring campaign.
In addition, junior Scott Roudebush and sophomore Eli Cole will compete as individuals.
Woolf posted a pair of top-15 showings during the fall campaign, including a seventh-place finish at The Prestige at PGA West where he recorded a 5-under-par score of 214 en route to leading the Frogs to the tournament title. The TCU senior also notched a 13th-place finish at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in the final tournament of the fall season.
Hoge will look to return to All-American form during the spring campaign as the TCU junior had a slow fall tournament season. The Fargo standout recorded his best finish of the season at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational where he finished 33rd overall.
In two fall tournaments, de Beer finished with a 74.00 strokes average where he recorded his best finish at The Prestige at PGA West with a third-place showing. At The Prestige at PGA West, the TCU sophomore notched a 4-under-par score of 212 to earn the bronze medal a year after capturing his first collegiate tournament on the same course.
In his rookie campaign, Jennevret had an outstanding season as he finished the fall with a 73.11 strokes average, including a tournament title. The TCU freshman captured his first collegiate tournament at The Prestige at PGA West where he ran away with the crown following a 12-under-par score of 204, tying a TCU record as the fastest golfer in program history to win a tournament crown. The record that he now holds with teammate Johan de Beer for a tournament title in their second collegiate event.
Gad exploded onto the scene in his first tournament as the TCU newcomer notched a fourth-place showing in his collegiate debut at the PING/Golfweek Preview with a 2-over-par score of 218. In addition, Gad notched a 26th-place showing at The Prestige at PGA West en route to guiding the Frogs to the tournament crown.
Competing as individuals, Roudebush competed in a pair of tournaments during the fall season where he recorded his best finish at 34th overall at The Prestige at PGA West while Cole tied for 26th overall at that same tournament in his collegiate debut.
The first round of the Mauna Lani Invitational will begin on Wednesday morning followed by 18 holes of action on Thursday and Friday.
