CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Five TCU football players have received All-America honors from Phil Steele Publications.
Defensive end Wayne Daniels is a first-team selection, while safety Tejay Johnson and center Jake Kirkpatrick are second-team picks. Linebacker Tanner Brock represents TCU on the third team with quarterback Andy Dalton a fourth-team choice.
Daniels, also a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), has career-best and team-high totals of 12 tackles for loss and 6 1/2 sacks.
Johnson is a consensus All-American and one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back. With three interceptions and three forced fumbles, he has taken part in six turnovers for the nation's top-ranked defense.
Kirkpatrick is the 2010 recipient of the Rimington Trophy, presented to the nation's best center. He sets the blocking scheme on each play for the Horned Frogs.
Brock is TCU's leading tackler with 97 stops. He needs just three tackles to become just the second Horned Frog since 2004 to reach 100 stops in a season.
Dalton is the nation's leader in wins by an active quarterback with 41. He has set TCU single-season records for completion percentage (66.2) and touchdown passes (26). Dalton has thrown just six interceptions while adding 407 yards rushing on a 5.3 per carry mark.
Dalton finished ninth in Heisman Trophy voting and was named the Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season.
