
Cross Country Sweeps TCU's Weekly Awards

FORT WORTH - Festus Kigen is the male recipient of Athlete of the Week and Agnes Kemboi is the women's recipient as cross country swept the honors, the TCU Athletics Department announced today.
Over the past weekend, Kigen became the first male in TCU history to win a NCAA cross country regional title. He crossed the line in 30:11.1. For his efforts, Kigen was named the South Central Region Men's Athlete of the Year.
The win marked the third time in Kigen's career the Eldoret, Kenya, native has notched a top-10 finish at the regional meet. The senior also punched his ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.
For the women, Kemboi paced the TCU women and recorded a personal-best 6,000-meter time of 21:20.6. She placed 25th in the race out of 125 participants.
Kemboi's time was good for the sophomore's first-career All-Region team nod and was also the fastest time in a 6,000-meter event this season.
