FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU freshman Lexie Estrada recently received the APHA High Point award by the American Paint Horse Association. By collecting the year-end honor, Estrada is considered the No. 1 rider in the nation.
"Winning a year end high point is one of the toughest awards a person can achieve," said head coach Gary Reynolds. "It takes a mental determination to keep going even when you are tired and suddenly have a bad streak. It speaks well of Lexie's mental and physical skills to win this award."
Estrada, a California native, was the AJPHA World Champion in Hunter Hack 14-18 this summer, as well as the reserve world champion in Horsemanship, Hunt Seat Equitation and Western. She also received the All-Around 14-18 High Point Award at the AJPHA World Championship Show.
The No. 7 TCU equestrian program will open its spring season this Saturday at home against Tennessee-Martin. Start time is set for 10 a.m. from Fieldstone Park in Mansfield.
