Morrison Leaves TCU For NFL Post

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Danny Morrison has announced his resignation as athletics director at TCU to become president of the Carolina Panthers.
Morrison will continue his duties at TCU through the remainder of the month.
"Peggy (Morrison's wife) and I have been blessed to be a part of both the TCU and Fort Worth community for the last four years," Morrison said. "The energy and momentum from the people here have made this a very special place.
"This has been especially true at TCU. Chancellor (Victor) Boschini, student-athletes, coaches, trustees, administration, faculty, staff and students have all made TCU a fun and inviting place to work. We will miss it.
"We are also excited, though, to have the opportunity to join one of the best organizations in professional sports. The Carolina Panthers are known for high standards and winning with class, and it will be great to learn from and work with their quality staff and coaches.
"It will also be a particular thrill to work beside Mr. Richardson, a mentor of mine for almost 40 years and a person who is highly respected and admired by all."
During his four years at TCU, Morrison helped usher in the Horned Frogs' Mountain West Conference era. In the 2008-09 athletics season, TCU had 16 of its 20 sports represented in postseason play, including all seven spring sports. A total of 12 sports were nationally ranked, including football at No. 7. Four conference titles were won with three coaches receiving MWC Coach of the Year honors.
Momentum was also evident in the classroom as TCU student-athletes posted their highest grade-point average since reporting began in Fall 1998.
The top four years for departmental revenue occurred under Morrison, while Frog Club donations reached record totals. During the last three years, Frog supporters have contributed $40 million for athletic scholarships and capital projects with that number reaching $45 million during the last four years.
Among the facility improvements during Morrison's tenure were the Dutch Meyer Athletic Complex and Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center, Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility, Paul's Patios at the Charlie and Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium and the installation of LED scoreboards and video boards at many of the Horned Frogs' venues.
Morrison also served as a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and assisted with the direction and planning for the institution.
A national search for Morrison's replacement will begin soon.
In his new capacity with the National Football League team, Morrison will be responsible for the Panthers' business operations and Bank of America Stadium business interests as well as representing the organization in many league matters.
