
Frogs Set For 2009 Opener; Host Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 2009 volleyball season gets underway Friday at the University Rec Center. The Horned Frogs will host their annual Nike/Molten Invitational featuring Arkansas, Loyola Marymount and Grambling State. TCU's first match of the 2009 campaign is slated for 7 p.m. against Arkansas.

TCU NOTABLES
The Frogs are coming off of their third straight winning season after posting a 20-12 mark a year ago.
TCU welcomes back 11 members from last years squad.
Four newcomers (Meghan Horio, Emily Kirby, Makenzie Smith and Sloane Sunstrum) joined the team this fall.
Christy Hudson was tabbed preseason All-Mountain West Conference.
Katelyn Blackwood was selected as the preseason Libero of the Year.
ARKANSAS NOTABLES The Razorbacks were selected to finish fifth in the SEC's Western Division.
10 of the 12 members of the team are either freshmen or sophomores.
Head Coach Robert Pulliza is in just his second season as the Razorbacks' head coach.
SERIES HISTORY - ARKANSAS
The Frogs and the Razorbacks have met on the court one other time.
TCU took a five-set victory over Arkansas in Fort Worth on Nov. 26, 2004.
GRAMBLING STATE NOTABLES
Grambling State was selected to finish first in the Western Division of the SWAC and garnered 13 first-place votes.
Outside hitter Kayla Williams was named second-team preseason All-SWAC.
The Tigers are welcoming four newcomers in 2009.
SERIES HISTORY - GRAMBLING STATE
TCU and Grambling State will be meeting for the fourth time in school history.
The Frogs are 3-0 all-time against the Tigers and have dropped just one set in the series history.
The last time the Frogs and the Tigers met was on Sept. 24, 2005.
All three previous meetings have come in Fort Worth.
LOYOLA MARYMOUNT NOTABLES
The Lions were picked to finish sixth in the West Coast Conference.
Loyola Marymount returns 10 letterwinners and welcomes in seven newcomers.
Head Coach Steve Stratos is entering into his 20th season as the leader of the Lions.
