
Hodge Wins Gold At CAC Championships

HAVANA, Cuba - Former Flyin' Frog great Virgil Hodge captured first-place honors in the 200 meters over the weekend at the 22nd running of the Central American and Caribbean Track and Field Championships.Hodge, who competed for St. Kitts and Nevis, clocked a winning time of 23.41 seconds to win gold. In the semifinals, the six-time All-American won heat No. 3 with a time of 23.31 seconds, which was the fastest semifinal 200-meter time recorded.
The 2008 graduate also anchored St. Kitts and Nevis' 4x100 relay to gold at Havana's Estadio Panamericano. Overall, the quartet captured first-place honors with a time of 43.53 seconds.
In the semifinals of the men's 100 meters, Andon Mitchell, who captured the conference title in the 100 this spring, crossed the finish line in second-place in heat No. 1 with a time of 10.45 seconds, but failed to make the finals.
