FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU diver Kyle Callens competed at the USA Diving National Preliminary Zone C meet in Minneapolis, Minn., this past weekend. The preliminary meets offer a chance for divers to earn a spot in the USA Diving AT&T National Championships.
Callens qualified for the one-meter springboard by placing fourth, while missing on the three-meter dive, finishing eighth.
The Deer Park, Texas, native was an All-MWC Scholar-Athlete and Academic Team selection last season while picking up All-MWC honors in the one- and three-meter springboard. Callens currently holds the Horned Frog record on the one-meter dive with a 341.62 score, the highest 2008-09 regular season mark by any diver in the Mountain West Conference. He garnered the silver medal in the three-meter dive behind teammate R.J. Hesselberg at the 2009 MWC Championships
Inviting approximately 125 of the nation's best divers to compete for 10 national titles, the USA Diving AT&T National Championships will be held on the campus of Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla., on August 11-16.
