FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior Meaghan Peoples was recognized as part of the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic Track and Field team on Monday.
This spring, Peoples collected all-conference honors in both the heptathlon and 400-meter hurdles. At the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships in Laramie, Wyo., the Weatherford native crushed her previous school record in the women's heptathlon to collect runner-up honors with an NCAA provisional mark of 5,060 points. By earning second-place honors, she became the first student-athlete in TCU history to finish the heptathlon in second-place at a conference championship meet.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
