FORT WORTH, Texas - After winning 10 of the 28 events on the final day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships this past weekend, the TCU track and field team was honored this week with the announcement of the league's Men's and Women's All-MWC Outdoor team.
As announced by the league office, TCU had 20 student-athletes named to the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field team. Following a second-place finish the men's team had 10 honorees, while the women's team also had 10 selections after earning runner-up honors.
In total, TCU's men's team had all-conference selections in nine events, while the women's team had all-conference selections in 10 different events.
Headlining the Flyin' Frogs selections on the men's side was TCU senior Otis McDaniel, who made the squad three times. On the women's side, Jessica Clarke, Kristal Juarez and Jessica Young were honored three times, while Mychal Dungey, Dell Guy, Andon Mitchell, Jordan Pitts, Justyn Warner, Sean Zurko, Kishelle Paul and Meaghan Peoples were all-conference selections in two events. Finally, earning recognition for a single event were Marcus Cannon, Tommy Killen, Clemore Henry, Neidra Covington, Stormy Harrison, Whitney Gipson, Hayley Shade and Meaghan Ryan.
McDaniel had a solid outing as he placed second in the 100 meters, clocking a seasonal-best and regional qualifying time of 10.26 seconds to earn runner-up honors. The senior closed out his MWC career finishing third in the 200 meters with a regional qualifying time of 20.85 seconds, while also running a leg on TCU's first-place 4x100 unit that recorded a seasonal-best and new track record time of 39.42 seconds.
Clarke earned three all-conference accolades by posting a third-place finish in the 100 meters with a seasonal-best and regional qualifying time of 23.58 seconds. She came back later in the day to collect runner-up honors in the women's 400 meters with a seasonal-best time of 52.85 seconds, which currently sits No. 18 in the NCAA. Finally, the senior helped the Flyin' Frogs 4x100 cross the finish line in first-place last Saturday.
Juarez collected honors by being a part of the Purple and White's 4x100 that won the conference championship with a new Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex record. She also helped the 4x400 quartet finish in second-place in Wyoming. Juarez also crossed the finish line third overall in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 52.96 seconds.
Young had a banner weekend winning every event she competed in. The junior from South Carolina breezed past the competition in the 100 meters with a complex record and NCAA regional qualifying time of 11.25 seconds. She also won the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 23.17 seconds. With the victory, Young broke the previous complex record, posted the 10th-best mark in the nation and clocked the seventh-fastest time in program history. Finally, Young anchored the women's 4x100 to a conference crown.
