FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team begins play Thursday at the Mountain West Conference Championship in Seaside, Calif.
The Horned Frogs will be looking for their fourth conference title under 15th-year head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin. TCU has finished first or second in nine of its last 11 conference tournaments.
TCU's last conference title came in 2007, when it rallied from a 6-stroke deficit entering the final round to win the championship by one shot over BYU.
No. 35 TCU is the third-highest ranked team in the MWC, trailing only No. 27 New Mexico and No. 30 UNLV.
The MWC Championship is being held at the par 72, 6,027-yard Black Horse Golf Course. Tee times for the three day, 54-hole event are at 9:30 a.m. Central each day. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
TCU's lineup will include junior Valentine Derrey, sophomores Prisela Campbell and Allyson Ferguson and freshmen Brooke Beeler and Rachel Raastad.
Derrey tied for 13th at last year's MWC Championship in Albuquerque. Campbell was in a deadlock for 15th, while Ferguson tied for 20th.
As a freshman in 2007, Derrey placed second at the MWC Championship.
TCU is the only team with four golfers in the top 10 in the league in stroke average. Derrey is fifth in the MWC with a team-best 74.1 mark, followed by Raastad at 74.7. Campbell and Beeler are eighth and ninth, respectively, at 75.0 and 75.7.
Campbell carded a TCU single-round record 66 last month at the LSU Classic.
Playing a nationally-competitive schedule, TCU has six top-10 finishes in its eight tournaments this season.
