
Flyin' Frogs add Peart and Collins on Thursday

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU track and field coach Darryl Anderson announced the signing of Samantha Collins and Teneshia Peart to National Letters of Intent on Thursday.
Overall, signing for the 2009-10 school year were Charles Silmon of Waco, Texas (Waco H.S.), Cameron Tabor of Norman, Okla. (Norman H.S.), Quintera Charles of Houston, Texas (Westfield, H.S.), Collins of Mesa, Ariz. (Westwood H.S.), Unique Conner of Las Vegas, Nev. (Western H.S.), Larissa Matthews of Chandler, Ariz. (Chandler H.S.), Peart of Lester Pearson, Canada (Florissant Valley C.C.), Sara Talley of Calhoun, Ga. (Gordon Central H.S.) and Tricia Terry of McAllen, Texas (McAllen Memorial H.S.).
Collins is a versatile athlete that will compete in multiple events for the Flyin' Frogs in 2010 after being nationally ranked in both the long jump and heptathlon. Overall, the Westwood High School product out of Arizona has soared 19 feet, 7 inches in the long jump, while posting the second-best senior heptathlon score in the nation with 4,669 points.
"Samantha posted the second-best heptathlon score in the nation as a senior and she is really strong in that event. Hopefully, she can not only do well at the conference level, but be a regional qualifier for us in both the long jump and heptathlon," said Anderson.
Peart will look to continue her domination on the track in 2010 after capturing the Junior College National Championship in the women's 60 meters last winter. The Canada product has posted personal-best times of 7.46 seconds in the 60, 11.61 seconds in the 100 and 23.95 in the 200 meters. Last weekend, Peart won the women's 400 meters indoors at the Southern Illinois McDonald's Invitational, clocking a seasonal-best time of 55.44 seconds.
"We are getting a more mature girl in Teneshia that should be able to come in and help make us very solid and strong in the women's sprints next season," said Anderson.
The 2009 TCU Flyin' Frogs will next be in action at the Texas A&M Invitational.

Charles Silmon
Silmon competed at Waco High School in Waco, Texas ... He collected runner-up honors in the 200 meters at the Texas State Championships, clocking a time of 21.02, which is the fifth-fastest 200-meter time in the country ... In the 100, Silmon's personal-best is 10.54 seconds.
Cameron Tabor
Tabor placed fifth at the 2008 Nike Nationals in the shot put ... Tabor, who is a two-time state champion in the shot put and three-time state champion in the discus, is currently the Oklahoma state record holder in the shot put with a toss of 63 feet, 1 ½ inches ... A former Texas Relays and Greater Southwest shot put champion, Tabor has the second-best throw in the nation in the discus and the fifth-best toss in the country in the shot ... The 2007 US World Youth team member has recorded a personal-best toss of 64 feet, 5 ¾ inches in the shot put and 203 feet, 5 inches in the discus ... Tabor's father Paul played professional football for the Chicago Bears.
Quintera Charles
Charles closed out the 2008 high school season crossing the finish line in fourth-place in the 400 meters at the Texas State Championships with a time of 54.69 seconds.
Unique Conner
Connor is from the same high school as current Flyin' Frog and All-American Dell Guy ... Won the Nevada State Championship in the 400 meters as a sophomore .... Conner's has posted a personal-best time of 54.73 in the 400 meters and collected runner-up honors last year at the state meet in the 400.
Larissa Matthews
Matthews won the Arizona State Championship in the 100 meters, 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles ... She currently ranks in the top-10 in the country in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.84 seconds ... Has posted a personal-best time of 43.42 in the 300-meter hurdles.
Sara Talley
Talley is a multi-sport athlete at Gordon Central High School in Georgia ... Talley collected the 4A Georgia State Championship in the shot put, while also earning runner-up honors in the discus at the state meet .... She has posted personal-best tosses of 44 feet, 4 inches in the shot and 140 feet in the discus ... Has also excelled in the classroom as she is a member of the National Honors Society ... Talley is a starting forward on the Gordon Central basketball team, while also competing for the cross country team.
Tricia Terry
Terry earned regional cross country champion honors twice during her time at McAllen Memorial High School ... The two-time 5A runner-up in the 1600 meters, has posted a personal-best time of 5:01.40 seconds in the 1600, while also clocking a personal-best time of 10:56.36 in the 3200 meters ... Terry has recorded a time of 18:00.05 seconds in the 5K while competing in 5A competition.
Teneshia Peart
