FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 7 Horned Frog equestrian team will host the Aggies of New Mexico State in Mansfield on Saturday.
The match will be the second time this season that the two teams have faced each other. TCU topped New Mexico State, 6-5, on Sept. 27 as Carrie von Uhlit took home a victory and the MVP title in the reining event. Freshman Courtney Chown notched an MVP honor in horsemanship after scoring a 72.5.
Saturday's match will feature Taylor Frederick and Victoria Lee in equitation over fences. Last weekend, Frederick defeated SMU's Kristen Collins, 81-78, giving the freshman her seventh victory of the season.
Sophomores Jessica Hagen and Milana Trimino will compete for the Frogs in equitation on the flat. Against SMU, Hagen scored a 74.5 and a victory in the event en route to being titled the event's MVP.
In the western division, Chloe Baker and Kelsey Huffman will lead TCU in horsemanship. Entering Saturday's match, Huffman has eight wins and three MVPs on the season in horsemanship.
Junior Ashton Mickunas will start in reining against the Aggies as she eyes her sixth consecutive victory in the event. Von Uhlit and Chown will also start for the Frogs in the reining event.
"I was amazed at how determined our team was after getting beat during the Fresno State Tournament," head coach Gary Reynolds said. "The hunt seat team's loss last weekend will give them the incentive to come back really strong this week."
The match starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Fieldstone Park Equestrian Facility in Mansfield. The results can be found at GoFrogs.com.
