
Derrey Keys Opening Two Rounds In Florida

PARRISH, Fla. -- TCU is in sixth place, while Horned Frog junior Valentine Derrey is in seventh individually after Monday's opening two rounds of the Central District Invitational.
Derrey and Rachel Raastad both had 72s to key a strong second round for the Frogs. TCU's 4-over 292 trailed only Purdue's 286 as the Frogs lowered their score by 18 strokes from the morning's opening round.
With her 3-over 147, Derrey is eight shots behind the 5-under 139 posted by leader Candace Schepperle of Auburn.
Raastad had five second-round birdies and a team-high nine on the day. The freshman from Norway is tied for 14th with a 5-over 149.
Four out of five TCU golfers dropped their scores by at least three strokes in round two with Prisela Campbell and Brooke Beeler both shooting a 74.
Tenth-ranked Auburn totaled a 579 and holds a 10-shot lead over No. 14 LSU. No. 28 TCU is at 602, one stroke behind No. 19 Michigan State who sits in fifth place.
