FORT WORTH--TCU Athletics selected diver Kyle Callens and tennis player Kayla Duncan as its Student-Athletes of the Week for their dominating performances last week.
Callens set a TCU diving record from the one-meter springboard in a matchup with Incarnate Word. His score of 341.62 was good enough to rank third in MWC history in the one-meter springboard. Callens has collected three wins from the one-meter so far this season. His win from the one-meter and second place finish from three-meters helped the Frogs defeat Incarnate Word 158-132.
Duncan came out swinging in Sunday's home-opener against the Auburn Tigers. The freshman defeated Myrthe Molenveld in straight sets in her singles matchup. Paired with sophomore Katariina Tuohimaa, Duncan helped clinch the doubles point defeating the team of Molenveld and Dunja Djuranovic 8-3. Her two wins helped the Frogs to a 4-3 victory over the No. 25 Tigers. The win was TCU's second consecutive defeat of a top-25 opponent.
The H2O men will now begin preparing for the MWC Championships beginning Feb. 25. Meanwhile, TCU women's tennis will enjoy a two-week layoff before hosting North Carolina State on Feb. 21.
