TCU Selects Athletes and Student-Athletes of the Month

FORT WORTH- TCU has selected Jake Kirkpatrick (Tyler, Texas | Robert E. Lee HS) and Megan Munce (Newport Beach, Calif. | Newport Harbor HS) as its Athletes of the Month for November. Edgar Crespo (Panama City, Panama| La Salle Catholic HS) and Emily Carter (Bossier City, La. |Airline HS) were chosen as TCU's Scholar-Athletes of the Month.
Kirkpatrick was named second-team All-Mountain West Conference following the Frog football team's season-ending win over New Mexico this past Saturday. The junior was a key part of a TCU offensive line that set single-season school records for points scored (488) and total offense (5,629). Kirkpatrick also helped the TCU offense post streaks near the end of the season of four straight games with at least 500 yards total offense, including 300 yards or more rushing in each contest. He has appeared on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, honoring the nation's top center.
Munce helped lead the TCU volleyball team to a 5-1 overall record in November and 3-1 in league play. She totaled of 33 kills (1.43per set), 257 assists (11.17 per set), a percentage of .291 for attacks, seven aces, eight blocks and 48 digs (2.09per set) this season. The Frog volleyball team finished the season with a 26-6 overall record while earning the first NCAA Tournament bid in program history.
Crespo has won each individual race so far this season (14-0) for the TCU men's swimming and diving team while helping the squad earn nine relay medals. He claimed three wins during a 157.5-123.5 win over UC San Diego, taking the 100-breast in a time of 56.20 and the 200-breast in 2:05.83. He picked up a pair of medals for his native country of Panama at the Bolivarian Games, earning gold in the 50-breast (29.20) and silver honors in the 100-breast (1:03.84). Crespo's gold medal was one of two earned by Panama during the 14-day competition. He also highlighted his week as the flag bearer for Panama. Crespo swept the breaststroke events in the Frogs' home opener against Wyoming, clocking in with a time of 55.84 in the 100-breast, while pacing the field with a lifetime-best mark in the 200-breast at 2:02.55. His 100-breast time ranks as the third-best in TCU history.
Carter led the 5-2 TCU women's basketball team in scoring through the squad's first six games averaging 11.7 points per contest. She ended the month of November ranking fourth in the MWC in 3-point shooting (50.0 percent), fifth in free-throw shooting (84.0 percent), tied for seventh in 3-pointers made (2.2 3FGpg), 11th in scoring (11.7 ppg) and 13th in steals (1.7 spg). Carter paced TCU in scoring each of the month's final three contests, including a 16-point effort in a victory over No. 18 Kansas Nov. 28 in the Bahamas.
