FORT WORTH - TCU has selected Eboni Mangum (Houston, Texas | Louisiana Tech) and Ed Wesley (Irving, Texas | MacArthur High School) as its Student-Athletes of the Week following their efforts for the Horned Frogs this past weekend.
Mangum led the women's basketball team by scoring a career-high 17 points in a 109-30 victory over Houston Baptist on Sunday. The senior went 8-for-8 from the free throw line and 4-of-8 from the field in her first regular-season game since missing the second half of the 2008-2009 season due to knee surgery. She also added three rebounds and three assists.
The Lady Frogs' 109 points against the Huskies is the eighth-best in program history and the team's first 100-point game since 2006-2007.
Wesley was instrumental in TCU topping 300 yards rushing and 500 yards of total offense for the third straight week during its commanding victory over No. 14 Utah. The redshirt freshman and Irving native rushed for a career-best 137 yards on 12 carries, scoring on a 14-yard run. His performance marked the first 100-yard game by a TCU freshman since Aaron Brown versus UNLV in 2005 and the highest single-game rushing total for a freshman since Brown ran for 163 yards against Utah that same season. Wesley's 64-yard scamper marked TCU's longest carry from scrimmage this season. He also added a 6-yard reception.
Wesley was named the MWC Preseason Freshman of the Year prior to the season.
