COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- TCU placekicker Ross Evans has been named the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in Saturday's 20-17 victory at Air Force.
It's the second time this season Evans has received the league honor. He was also a recipient after his three field goals in the season-opening 30-14 win at Virginia.
With the wind chill for the game in single digits, Evans had second-half field goals of 38 and 27 yards that were critical to the Horned Frogs' victory in Colorado Springs. His two kicks provided all of TCU's second-half scoring.
The sophomore from Burnet, Texas, added a pair of extra points in the game.
For the season, Evans is 5-of-6 on field goals and 18-of-19 on extra points. He appears on the Lou Groza Award Watch List and was the lone freshman last season to be a semifinalist.
