FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU equestrian program will travel to Manhattan, Kan., on Friday for a matchup against Kansas State University at Fox Creek Farms.
Following competition against the Wildcats, the Horned Frogs will travel to Brookings, S. D., for a contest against Delaware State and South Dakota State at the DeHaan Equestrian Center on Saturday.
Start time for the match against K-State will take place at 9 a.m., while the Horned Frogs will battle the Jackrabbits and Hornets on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Brookings.
"We are excited about the games this weekend. Kansas State has a great group of horses that we are really looking forward to riding," said head coach Gary Reynolds. "We have never been to either place, so it should be a great trip for us. South Dakota State beat our Western team last year at the Best of the West Tournament, so we are looking forward to the match. We had such a big emotional weekend during our last trip that it has taken us awhile to get back to form, but we are fired up and ready to go."

Scouting Kansas State
Kansas State will open its 2009 season this Friday morning against the Horned Frogs. The Wildcats return plenty of experience off a Western squad that finished fifth overall at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco.
In Horsemanship, KSU is led by senior Alyssa Freeman who closed the spring becoming the first K-State rider to ever qualify for nationals as an individual. Junior Alecia Zimbelman is also back and will look to build upon a sophomore season that saw her post a 13-5-1 record in reining.
The Wildcats English squad will have to rely on several key newcomers this fall, but return a total of five senior riders with show experience, including Kendall Marvin who tallied six wins in Over the Fences last season.
Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State will also open its fall campaign this weekend against the Frogs and Delaware State. The Jackrabbits' Western squad competed at the National Championships last spring, falling in the first round to South Carolina.
The Jacks will count on Kaylee Mundwiler to lead them on the Western side during the early portion of their schedule. Mundwiler earned MVP honors against Tennessee-Martin last spring and closed out her junior season competing at nationals.
In English, SDSU returns plenty of talent as Ashley Marrin, Melissa Zajac and Molly Ryan all competed and claimed championship accolades at the IHSA Nationals in Equitation.
Scouting Delaware State
The Hornets will open their season this weekend against TCU and South Dakota State. In 2008, DSU's English squad competed at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships for a second-consecutive season. Overall, the Pioneers, who have five seniors on their roster this fall, downed SMU, South Dakota State and the University of Delaware in 2008-09.
In 2009, the Horned Frogs dominated the Hornets, 15-2, in Mansfield. In the match, TCU swept the MVP accolades against DSU with both Carrie von Uhlit and Jessica Hagen having solid days.
Scouting TCU
TCU heads into this weekend with a 3-2-0 overall record after going 2-1-0 in its last outings against Auburn, Georgia and South Carolina. The Horned Frogs, who are currently on a two-match winning streak, used three MVP honors to down South Carolina, 10-9, on Sept. 20.
In 2009, senior Carrie von Uhlit has led the Frogs on the Western side, compiling an undefeated record in both Horsemanship and Reining, while collecting a total of four MVP honors. In Reining, Kelsey Huffman has posted a 5-0 record after five matches this fall.
Jessica Hagen has carried the Purple and White in Equitation, recording four wins and three MVP accolades in Equitation on the Flat.
Downing The Four-Time National Champion
The TCU equestrian program made a little history two weeks ago, upending defending National Champion Georgia 11-9 in Bishop, Ga. By defeating the Bulldogs, the Frogs became the first varsity equestrian program in the nation to defeat Georgia at the Georgia Equestrian Complex.
