
Bagby and Hesselberg Earn MWC Weekly Honors

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU's men's swimming and diving team earned a clean sweep of the Mountain West Conference weekly honors Tuesday, as junior Josh Bagby was tabbed as the Swimmer of the Week and senior R.J. Hesselberg earned Diver of the Week accolades.
Bagby, a native of Houston, Texas grabbed his fourth 100-yard freestyle victory of the 2008-09 season with a time of 46.62 against UNLV. The junior also swam anchor leg on TCU's 200-yard medley relay team that finished second in 1:33.90. Against Utah, he turned in a season-best time in the 100 free, winning in 45.87. Bagby also paced the field with his fourth victory of the year in the 50-yard freestyle, touching in 21.14. He concluded the meet anchoring the Frogs' 200-yard freestyle relay that won in 1:33.83. For Bagby, the honor is the first in his career at TCU.
Hesselberg, who hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, won three of four diving events in conference meets vs. UNLV and Utah. On January 6, the senior claimed the top spot on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 282.70. He also finished second on the 3-meter board, scoring 334.95 against the Rebels. Hesselberg swept both diving events on January 9, tallying a 311.02 score from the 1-meter board and 353.85 in the 3-meter event. The award is Hesselberg's second of the season and 13th in his career.
