FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU woman's rifle team welcomes Nevada to the TCU rifle range for the 17th annual Horned Frog Invitational this Saturday. TCU expectations are high and the team has increased in both size and experience.
Nevada is a familiar foe for the Frogs. The two teams faced off last season three times. TCU topped the Wolfpack twice and shot to a draw once. In the NCAA qualifying match, TCU won by only one point on the aggregate. TCU would later go on to finish third in the nation, while the Wolfpack claimed the eighth spot.
Mattie Brogdon, a freshman from Dawsonville, Ga., will make her debut for the Purple and White. She is a welcomed addition to the Purple team and has national championship experience that will make an instant impact on the firing line.
Experience is not something that TCU lacks. The Purple team returns the same group of shooters led by Erin Lorenzen, a junior from Fort Wayne Ind. Other returnees to the Purple team are juniors, Lauren Sullivan, Emily Paper and Simone Riford. The lone senior on the squad is Tanya Gorin.
The match against the Wolfpack will take place at the TCU rifle range on Saturday morning.
