The TCU men's golf program continues to build on its rich tradition during the summer months as several Horned Frogs have found success on the links all over the country over the last two weeks of action.
Tom Hoge (Fargo, North Dakota | Fargo South High School)
Tom Hoge became the third TCU men's golfer to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Championships - which will be held on August 18th-24th at the Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 Golf Courses in Pinehurst, N.C. - following his victory at the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier.
The TCU sophomore recorded a two-round score of 136 at the Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn., while finishing four shots better than runner-up Bryce Hanstad of Colorado State. Hoge will make his first-ever appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championships as he will join Travis Woolf and James Sacheck - who both qualified for the championships earlier this summer.
This was the second tournament victory of the season for Hoge as the TCU sophomore notched a gold medal at the North Dakota Match Play to go along with a third-place showing at the North Dakota Stroke Play.
Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas | Paschal High School)
Travis Woolf finished tied for 38th overall at the South Amateur Championships at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla., after recording a four-round score of 289 (70-73-71-75). The TCU junior finished one-over-par for the tournament - but held a two-under-par score heading into the fourth and final round of action.
Woolf will make his first-ever appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championships on August 18th-24th at the Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 Golf Courses in Pinehurst, N.C.
James Sacheck (The Woodlands, Texas | Zionsville High School)
James Sacheck finished 38th overall at the Western Amateur Championships in Benton Harbor, Mich., after posting a four-round total of 287 (72-66-74-75). Sacheck will make his fourth-straight appearance at the U.S. Amateur Championships on August 18th-24th at the Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 Golf Courses in Pinehurst, N.C.
Scott Roudebush (Austin, Texas | Austin High School)
Scott Roudebush earned his second runner-up accolade this summer as the TCU senior tied for second overall at the West Texas Amateur in San Angelo, Texas, last weekend. Roudebush finished with an eight-under-par score of 205 (69-69-67) - but fell to the 11-under-par score set by Trey Todd of Texas A&M.
This was the third top-five finish of the summer season for Roudebush as the Austin, Texas, native posted a second-place showing at the 2008 Firecracker Open and third-place mark at the CPT Blackhorse.
