FORT WORTH, Texas - With fall camp ready to start this month, GoFrogs.com recently sat down with 2007 NCAA participant Festus Kigen to get his thoughts on the upcoming cross country season.
What do you expect this season in cross country?
"I just expect to work hard and try and get back to the NCAA Championships. I have been really focusing on trying to get into the top 30 at the NCAA meet because that is my goal."
What have you been doing this summer to train for this upcoming season?
"I have been training very hard and the last month has been very good for me because I have been able to build up my mileage, which is good. Really, I think I need three weeks to sharpen up my speed, but I think before we start our first meet I will be okay."
Do you expect to take on more of a leadership role this season?
"Coming out of last season we lost Matt Manly, so I think I will be looked at more as a leader on the men's side."
What do you expect out of the team this fall?
"The team seems to be training well and we expect to be really good. The squad should be a lot better this season because all of the underclassmen have one more."
What have you done this summer for fun?
"Running has been fun, but I have been busy all summer taking classes. I think I am going to try and take a weekend off before school starts and relax a little bit."
How fast has your first three years gone here at TCU?
"It is going very fast, so I'm really training hard because I want to reach my goals I have set."
