
Frog volleyball gears up for Alumni match

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Volleyball team will put its 2008 squad on the court Saturday night as they take on the alumni in their annual match. The Frogs will welcome back 12 former players, while introducing seven newcomers. TCU has seven letterwinners returning from a squad that finished 22-12 a year ago. The match gets underway Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the University Rec Center.
The alumni team has some familiar faces returning as well as welcoming to newcomers in Calli Corley and Loren Barry.
The following is a look at the alumni that will be on the court Saturday:
Jennifer (Cuca) Vegors makes her way back to TCU after her storied career concluded following the 2002 season. While playing for the Purple and White, Cuca had a defensive prowess that helped her record 862 digs in her career which is seventh on the all-time career list.
Allison (Lynch) Pent proved to be a durable player during her playing career as she started in 117 consecutive matches which ranks third all-time. The 2001 graduate possessed excellent timing, which helped her set the TCU standard for career blocks with 445. Her strong swing also allowed her to tally 986 kills in her career (fifth all-time).
Stacy Olson was a member of the very first TCU Volleyball squad in 1996. She ranks eight all-time in matches played with 406 and holds the seventh-longest streak of consecutive matches played with 78. A defensive specialist, she tallied 565 career digs and 89 aces, which ranks seventh all-time.
Tori Barlow-Rubinson captured numerous accolades and records during her career. With 127 consecutive matches played (second all-time), Barlow-Rubinson is second in career aces with 136 and second all-time in career assist with 3,286.
Bethany Toce-Powers finished her career after the 2000 season and tallied 554 kills in 109 matches during her career. She recorded two career 20+ kill matches.
A defensive specialist in her four-year career at TCU Rachel (Shirley) Hall played from 1998-2001. In 254 career games, Hall tallied 51 aces and dug 396 balls. She was a three-time academic all-conference performer.
Jessica Rangel was a member of the inaugural squad at TCU in 1996 and played until 1999. She ranks ninth all-time with 116 matches played during her TCU career. Another defensive standout for the Frogs, Jessica ranks tenth all-time with 729 digs.
Making her second appearance as an alumni is Anna (Vaughn) Martin. She left an indelible mark on the TCU record books and currently holds the top mark two categories, while ranking in the top five of eight other categories. She topped Tori Barlow's career mark for aces in 2006 and finished with 141. No other attacker has been as accurate as Vaughn as she boasted a career hitting percentage of .328.
Returning to the Alumni game after a year's absence is Hayley Harmon. In 100 career matches, Harmon totaled 372 kills for an average of 1.46 per game. She served up 17 aces and tallied 104 total blocks in four seasons.
Now a member of the volleyball staff, Skye Tacker was a member of the 2003 squad. In 26 games played, she averaged 3.38 assists per game, ranking seventh all-time at TCU.
Making her first appearance as an alumnus is Loren Barry. Barry did a little bit of everything in her career and ranks in the top 10 of most career records, including matches played, games played, digs and aces. Most know for her defense, she tallied 1,156 in her career.
Also appearing as an alumnus for the first time is the Frogs' all-time leader in digs, Calli Corley. She finished her career with an impressive 1,433 digs in 403 games played. She averaged 3.56 digs in her career, while also serving up 87 aces.
