Frater and Collins advance at 2008 Olympics

BEIJING, China - Both Michael Frater and Kim Collins advanced on Friday in the men's 100-meter quarterfinals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.Frater, who is running for Jamaica, clocked a time of 10.15 seconds to finish first overall in heat No. 4 in first round action. He came back later in the day in the quarterfinals to finish second in heat No. 1 with a time of 10.09.
Kim Collins advanced to the quarterfinals on Friday at National Stadium by crossing the finish line in second-place in heat No. 2 with a time of 10.17 seconds. Collins was clipped at the line by former world record holder Asafa Powell of Jamaica who recorded a time of 10.16 seconds. In quarterfinal action, Collins posted a time of 10.07 in heat No. 3 to advance.
Current world record holder Usain Bolt won quarterfinal heat No. 1 with a time of 9.92 seconds, while Tyson Gay of the United States posted a time of 10.09 to advance to semifinal action.
Both Frater and Collins will continue action on Saturday in Beijing in semifinal competition.
