EL PASO, Texas -- Former TCU standout and current National Football League star LaDainian Tomlinson has been named to the 75th Anniversary All-Sun Bowl Team.
Tomlinson made the squad as a kick returner. He contributed to TCU's 28-19 victory over USC in the 1998 contest. It was the Horned Frogs' first bowl win in 41 years, dating back to a 28-27 victory over Jim Brown and Syracuse in the 1957 Cotton Bowl.
In addition to 91 yards on kickoff returns, Tomlinson added 30 yards rushing to go with a 25-yard reception. The future NFL Most Valuable Player was in his sophomore season with the Frogs.
TCU totaled 314 yards on the ground while holding the Trojans to a Sun Bowl-record minus-23 yards rushing. It was also the lowest total in USC history.
