CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- TCU sophomore Valentine Derrey has been named a second-team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association while joining teammate Allyson Ferguson on the All-Central Region Team.
Derrey becomes the seventh TCU All-American in the last 12 years under head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin.
A sophomore from Paris, France, Derrey is ranked 14th nationally by Golfstat. She has a 74.6 stroke average.
The Co-Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, Derrey carded a TCU tournament record 210 to place third at the NCAA Central Regional in Austin. She tied another Horned Frog mark with her opening-round 67. Derrey's 6-under-par effort in Austin helped TCU place fourth and earn its first back-to-back NCAA National Championship appearances since 1999-2000.
Derrey had nine top-20 finishes, including five in the top 10, in 11 tournaments this season. She posted TCU's low score in nine events. Derrey was named the MWC Women's Golfer of the Month on three occasions.
Ferguson, a Houston native, was one of three freshmen in TCU's five-player lineup.
Ferguson tied for eighth individually with a 1-over-par 217 at the NCAA Central Regional. She carded a career-low 71 in the opening and final rounds.
