
Starnes wins pole vault at UTA Open

ARLINGTON, Texas - Leslie Starnes, a sophomore from Rockdale, won the women's pole vault on Friday to lead TCU on the first day of competition at the UTA Open on the campus of UT-Arlington.Starnes, who barely missed qualifying for regionals on her final attempt, soared 12 feet to win the event at Maverick Stadium. In the men's 5000 meters, senior Matt Manly finished second overall.
The rest of the Flyin' Frogs will open comptition tomorrow in Arlington. TCU will begin at 9 a.m. with the women's shot put, while the men's 4x100 will kick off competition on the track.
In it's last outing, the Purple and White had a dominating weekend at the 114th running of the Penn Relays. Overall, the Flyin' Frogs set two school records, won five different events, including the men's 4x400, while also earning College Athlete of the Meet honors for individual events.
