FORT WORTH, Texas - The race for the conference title comes down to a three-game series against New Mexico this weekend for the TCU Horned Frogs. Both the Frogs and the Lobos enter the weekend with identical 16-5 marks in league play. TCU has won seven straight games, while New Mexico has won four of its last five entering the weekend. The series is slated for a 1 p.m. (CST) start Thursday and continues at 1 on Friday and Saturday.
TCU NOTABLES
After finishing the month of April with a 16-4 mark, the Frogs are in the midst of a seven-game winning streak to open the month of May.
The Frogs moved up one spot in the national poll to No. 24 in the Baseball America poll earlier this week.
The Frogs have won five straight conference series, including sweeping four of them.
At one point this season, the Frogs were 14-12, since, they have gone 22-4 to improve to 36-16.
ROAD SITE NOTES
The Frogs struggled early on in the season on an opponents field, but have won nine of 11 on the road.
The Frogs have won their last two conference road series.
TCU is 6-3 in road conference series this season.
TCU is 63-50 overall under Schlossnagle on the road.
NEW MEXICO NOTABLES
New Mexico enters the weekend carrying a four-game winning streak after sweeping UNLV in Las Vegas.
The Lobos have won six straight conference series since dropping a home series to UNLV in March.
New Mexico is averaging 7.5 runs per game and is led offensively by Mike Brownstein's .366 average.
On the mound, the Lobos have posted a 5.50 ERA with 323 strikeouts.
SERIES BASE KNOCKS
TCU and New Mexcio will meet for the 32nd time in school history on Thursday.
The Frogs own a 21-10 series advantage and are 7-3 against the Lobos since joining the MWC.
The Lobos took 2-of-3 from TCU in Fort Worth earlier this season.
