
Frogs tied for fifth at MWC Championship

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Playing in windy conditions, TCU shot a 32-over-par 324 and is tied for fifth after Thursday's opening round of the Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship.
The defending champion and 27th-ranked Horned Frogs trail No. 22 New Mexico by 26 strokes. The Lobos carded a 6-over 298 and hold a nine-shot lead over No. 30 BYU.
Melissa Loh, one of three freshmen in TCU's five-player lineup, posted the Frogs' best score with a 6-over 79. The Singapore native is tied for 14th. Loh and sophomore Valentine Derrey both had two birdies.
TCU senior Carrie Morris is tied for 18th.
New Mexico's Jodi Ewart, last year's MWC individual champion, shot a 1-under-par 72 to take the first-round lead. UNLV's Therese Koelbaek is one stroke behind with an even-par 73.
Friday's second round will begin at 10:20 a.m. Central for the Frogs. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
