FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 63 TCU men's tennis team will play host to UT-Arlington at 2 p.m. and Abilene Christian at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. TCU will look to improve on its 3-0 record this season.
The Horned Frogs opened the home season on Monday with a 5-2 decision over Idaho, where No. 27 Cosmin Cotet, Kriegler Brink, No. 94 Zach Nichols and Casey Powers all remained undefeated in singles play. Brink, Cotet and Nichols have yet to surrender a set to an opponent.
The 44th-ranked duo of Brink and Cotet and the Frog pair of Nichols and Jack Seider are also undefeated in doubles play this season. Both teams survived a scare on Monday against the Vandals, as Brink and Cotet fought to a 9-7 decision at the No. 1 position, while Nichols and Seider slipped by with a score of 9-8(6) at the No. 3 spot.
Both series against Abilene Christian and UT-Arlington date back to the 1974 season, as TCU holds an 8-0 advantage over Abilene Christian and a 15-1 mark over UTA. Last season, the Frogs defeated Abilene Christian by a score of 7-0 in Fort Worth, while downing UTA 5-2 in Arlington.
Free pizza will be provided to the public at tomorrow's matches.
