Fort Worth, Texas - The TCU Sports Review will recap all of the events for the Frogs this past week and take a look at the upcoming action for the Purple and White.
Men's Basketball
Last Week: TCU started the week by dropping a 70-58 decision on Wednesday to UNLV in Fort Worth, Texas - which snapped the Frogs' six-game home-winning streak. Brent Hackett (Fort Worth, Texas/Southwest H.S.) led the Frogs in scoring with 19 points - including a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Kevin Langford (Fort Worth, Texas/North Crowley H.S.) also added 17 points in the contest and increased his total to 17 consecutive double-digit scoring performances.
On Saturday, the Frogs dropped a 56-46 decision to the Air Force Academy at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum - dropping their record to 11-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Langford scored 11 points in the contest upping his season total to 18 double-digit games. Keion Mitchem (Rochester, N.Y./ Rochester East H.S.) also added 10 points in the game in his first collegiate start.
This Week: The Frogs will hit the road this week as they travel to Provo, Utah, for a match-up against BYU for a 8:00 p.m. Central Time start. Following its' game in Utah, TCU will come back home to play San Diego State with a 2:00 p.m. tip-off on Saturday.
Women's Basketball
Last Week: The TCU women's basketball team started its' successful week on the road by capturing a 56-38 decision to UNLV in Las Vegas. Helen Roden (Melbourne, Australia/Odessa College) and Helena Sverrisdottir (Flensborgarskolinn, Iceland) both recorded 11 points while Jenna Lohse (Fort Worth, Texas/Richland H.S.) grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
The Lady Frogs traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo., to notch a 67-49 victory over the Air Force Academy. The Frogs were led by Adrianne Ross (Hobbs, N.M./ Hobbs H.S.) with 18 points and four steals. Emily Carter (Bossier City, La./Airline H.S.) also added 14 points for the Lady Frogs.
This Week: TCU will get back into action as they come back home to Fort Worth on Tuesday night to take on BYU. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. TCU will get back on the road Saturday as they will travel to San Diego, Calif., for a match-up versus San Diego State.
Men's Tennis
Last Week: TCU got its season started on a good note this past weekend as the Frogs defeated UT San Antonio and St. Edward's (TX) for a 2-0 start. Cosmin Cotet (Iasi, Romania/University of Iasi) helped the Frogs by winning both of his singles' matches in straight sets and notching two doubles wins as well.
This Week: The Frogs will take on Idaho at home on Monday afternoon with a start time of 2:00 p.m. TCU will play two matches at the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center on Wednesday as they will take on UT Arlington and Abilene Christian.
Track and Field
Last Week: The TCU track and field program had another successful week as the Flyin' Frogs competed at the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The Frogs posted four NCAA provisional marks this past weekend at the meet.
Freshman Sean Zurko (Las Vegas, Nev./Silverado H.S,) was the top collegiate runner in the 800-meter race by posting a time of 1:50.17. In addition, earning provisional marks for the Flyin' Frogs were Virgil Hodge (St. Kitts, Caribbean/Washington Irving H.S.) in the women's 60-meters, Che Chavez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Poly Prep H.S.) in the men's 400-meters and the women's 4x400 relay unit.
This Week: The Flyin' Frogs are out of action this week but will return to the track when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invitational.
Rifle
Last Week: The TCU rifle team notched its' fourth straight win this past week at home against the Air Force Academy. As a team, the Frogs set a new school record for aggregate smallbore score with 2,311 points - breaking the previous record of 2,290.
Emily Paper (Pleasant Valley, Iowa/Pleasant Valley H.S.) and Simone Riford (Kaneohe, Hawaii/Punahou School) both claimed top honors in smallbore by posting scores of 581 in the event. The score was a personal-best for Paper.
This Week: The team will hit the road as they travel to El Paso, Texas, on February 9th to face UTEP.
Swimming and Diving
Last Week: The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving team were out of action this past week.
This Week: The TCU women's swimming and diving team will return to the tank on Wednesday against North Texas. The men's swimming and diving program will return to action at the Mountain West Conference Championships held in Oklahoma City, Okla., starting February 27th.
Women's Tennis
This Week: The TCU women's tennis program will get their spring season started as they will travel down to Austin, Texas, to take on The University of Texas on February 9th. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
