COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The women's track and field team finished the second day of the Mountain West Conference Championships in the third spot on Friday, while the men are in sixth-place heading into Saturday at the Cadet Field House on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
The following are quotes from some of TCU's top performers on Friday.
Darryl Anderson
"I thought we had a good day today. We are in pretty good shape on the men's side and I will be surprised if we don't come out tomorrow and do a whole lot better. On the women's side, we are in great shape and we are going to come out tomorrow and surprise a lot of people. We will see how it turns out."
"Neidra Covington and JimAnne Hejny were outstanding in the long jump today. Jonathan Jackson also did a good job today, we wish that he would've won, but we'll take it."
"The women's distance medley getting third was big for us and a great way to end the meet."
"Overall, we qualified extremely well today. Things are looking good for us going into tomorrow."
Kishelle Paul
"I am really excited to run tomorrow. I know that I will do a lot better and make it count tomorrow. Overall, I think I did a pretty good job today."
Jordan Pitts
"It wasn't my best race, but I made it to the finals and hopefully I can come back tomorrow and clean up my technique problems."
Che Chavez
"At the beginning I was a little bit rusty, but I found my stride as the race progressed. Tomorrow is when it counts and running this track is a different experience then a lot of the tracks we run on. Hopefully, I can come out tomorrow and do well."
Kristal Juarez
"I think I did good today. I need to get my start better, but I think I ended my race really strong and that's probably what I am best at anyway."
Sean Zurko
"During the race it ended up being like a huge boxing match, but I got out of it and won the race. Tomorrow is going to be very difficult, but as a freshman I just want to do my best and help the team out as much as I can."
Virgil Hodge
"Overall, in both races I think I came out today and got through the rounds. My start in the 60 meters was a little off, but hopefully tomorrow I can come out and be able to fix that. In the 200 with the curve being so tight, I just had to execute and control myself around the curve. I think it was a good day and I am excited to see what I can do tomorrow.
Neidra Covington
"I think I am good position to do something tomorrow in the triple jump. Hopefully, I can re-break my record again in the triple jump. I was happy to win the long jump and I think both JimAnne and myself did well."
