
Derrey tied for the lead at Northrop Grumann

PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- Valentine Derrey carded a 1-under-par 70 and is tied for the individual lead after Monday's opening round of the Northrop Grumann Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes (Calif.) Golf Club.
The No. 28 Horned Frogs are 11th out of 15 teams in a field that features 12 top-25 programs.
Derrey recorded four birdies on the day, including three over the final seven holes. The sophomore from Paris, France, is tied with Pepperdine's Taylore Karle atop the leaderboard.
The Frogs shot a 22-over 306 and are 18 strokes behind leader and second-ranked UCLA. The Bruins carded a 4-over 288 and are 10 shots ahead of No. 3 USC, No. 5 Florida, No. 16 Pepperdine and No. 40 BYU.
Freshman and Fort Worth native Prisela Campbell was the only other Frog to break 80. The Fossil Ridge High School graduate is tied for 31st individually after a 5-over 76.
TCU's five-player lineup includes three freshmen and two sophomores.
