Members of the TCU athletics department and several Horned Frog student-athletes had an early start to their holiday season Friday, when they visited Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. The group delivered nearly 100 new toys to the hospital to be distributed to young patients.
Friday's trip was the culmination of a two-week toy drive among members of the TCU athletics department, including student-athletes, coaches and staff. The toys will be delivered by the hospital to individual children on Christmas Eve.
Among the Frog student-athletes who made the Cook Children's Hopsital visit were: Ben Carruthers, Jordan Pitts, Meredith Grubb, Neidra Covington, Jessica Young, Michelle Nguyen, Jackie Torda, Kriegler Brink and Zach Nichols.
"It's great to know that TCU's student-athletes and staff recognize the importance of community service, especially at this time of year," said Kim Johnson, TCU Associate Athletics Director who helped direct the toy drive. "People in the TCU community always seem eager to lend a helping hand."
