FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Equestrian team returns to action on Sunday in Mansfield, Texas, as it faces South Carolina in the home-opener of the 2008-09 season.
Sunday's match will be the third time in history that the two schools have faced each other. South Carolina beat TCU in the first two meetings.
In last year's match, the Horned Frogs fell to the Gamecocks, 11-8, as Chloe Baker picked up a win and MVP honors in reining.
The Frogs are 2-2 on the season after defeating West Texas A&M and New Mexico State. In the win over New Mexico State, freshmen Courtney Chown and Taylor Frederick each picked up MVP honors in horsemanship and equitation over fences, respectively.
TCU will be counting on its veteran seniors Carrie von Uhlit and Baker to help lead the team to victory. Von Uhlit and Baker will be competing in both horsemanship and reining.
Sunday's match will also feature sophomores Milana Trimino and Lauren Quiroz in Equitation on the Flat.
Sophomore Kelsey Huffman will also be competing in both horsemanship and reining as she looks for her third win on the season in horsemanship.
"South Carolina is a great team and we are excited about playing them," head coach Gary Reynolds said. "They are well coached on both sides and I am looking forward to matching our ever improving hunt seat team against that of the Gamecocks."
The action starts at 10 a.m. and the results can be followed at GoFrogs.com
