FORT WORTH, Texas-The TCU equestrian team announced 2007 end-of-the-year awards that four of its riders have received in individual competitions. Jessica Bailey, Chloe Baker, Tassie Munroe and Caitlin Sewell all were honored with their performances away from Varsity Equestrian events.
Bailey competed at the Ohio Quarter Horse Congress and placed second in the 2-year-old Western Pleasure and was fifth in the Pleasure Driving.
Baker competed in numerous events this fall, and captured championships at the Appaloosa World Show in the Non-Pro Western Pleasure, Non-Pro Hunt Seat Equitation, and was the Reserve Champion in the Non-Pro Showmanship at Halter. With her victories, Baker finished in third place on the points list for Non-Pro All Around, Non-Pro Western, as well as Non-Pro Equitation/Showmanship.
Munroe was the 2007 Grand Champion All-Around Welsh and Champion Hunter Welsh. She also earned the Legion of Merit and Award of Excellence, two awards given for accumulation of points at shows throughout the year. Munroe recently returned from the United States Equestrian Federation National Banquet where she serves on the National Youth Council. Her group put on the first-annual National Convention.
Sewell, who received her Bachelor's degree last month, received the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America lifetime award. The award is granted to those riders who have earned 4,000 total lifetime points. Sewell was also National Champion in the Adult Hunter, Adult Hunt Seat Equitation, Adult Western Pleasure and Ridden Welsh Classic. She was National Reserve Champion in Adult Stock Seat Equitation and Section D Stallions. Sewell also placed third nationally in the Adult English Pleasure, and fourth on a different horse in the Adult Hunter.
The Frogs resume practice this week, and return to competition as a team Feb. 15 in Fresno, Calif. as part of the Best of the West Tournament.
