FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Volleyball team will put their five-match winning streak on the line Tuesday night with a non-conference match-up with Texas State. The Frogs are off to the best start in school history at 15-2 on the season and have won 11 straight non-conference matches. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. in San Marcos, Texas.
The Texas State Series
The Frogs and the Bobcats renewed their rivalry a year ago in Fort Worth. After a five-year absence from playing, the Frogs earned their second straight victory over the Bobcats with a 3-0 sweep. Prior to a five-set victory in 2001, Texas State had claimed the first five victories in the series. TCU will be in search of its first-ever win in San Marcos, having lost the previous three visits.
Getting Off On The Right Foot
Winning game one has proven to be a good omen for TCU this season. In its only two loses on the season, the Frogs have lost the first set. They are 11-0 when winning game one and 4-2 when dropping the first set. The Frogs have also notched eight sweeps on the year.
Glorious September
TCU has enjoyed the month of September thus far as they are 12-1 in the month. September has by far been the best month for the Horned Frogs under Prentice Lewis as she has 57 of her 103 career victories in the month.
Goin' The Distance
Three times this season, the Frogs have gone the distance in matches and all three times, the Frogs have come out on the positive side with victories. They have five-set victories over Florida Gulf Coast, Cincinnati and Denver. They are 35-25 (.583) all-time in matches that go to game No. 5.
