
Hodge advances in 100 at Pan American Games

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - TCU sprinter Virgil Hodge punched her ticket to the women's 100-meter finals at the 2007 Pan American Games on Monday at the João Havelange Stadium in Brazil.
A native of St. Kitts, Hodge clocked a time of 11.33 in the semifinal round and finished fourth in the first heat to advance to Tuesday's final. In first round action, Hodge crossed the finish line with a time of 11.35 to finish second in her heat and ninth overall.
Former TCU sprinters Kim Collins and Delwayne Delaney also competed in Brazil on Monday.
A member of the TCU track and field team from 2000-2001, Collins recorded a time of 10.32 in the semifinal round of the men's 100 meters to qualify for Tuesday's final. Collins, a six-time All-American, qualified for the semifinals by running 10.30 to finish fifth overall in first round competition.
Delaney, a 2006 All-America selection, ran 10.47 in the first round of the men's 100 meters to place third in the third heat. In the semifinal of the men's 100, Delaney posted a time of 10.42 to place fifth in his heat, but failed to qualify for Tuesday's final.
Hodge and Collins will resume action at João Havelange Stadium on Tuesday.
