FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior distance runner McKale Davis has been named to the first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
A native of Fairfax, Okla., Davis graduated from TCU this past May with a GPA of 3.91 in coordinated dietetics. Davis' selection to the All-District VI Team places her on the national ballot to earn Academic All-America honors.
Davis was one of 11 females selected to the All-District VI Team. Davis' honor marks the second consecutive season that a member of the TCU track and field team has been named to the first team All-District VI Team after Joe Brown earned the same honors on June 1, 2006.
In 2007, Davis won the 2007 Mountain West Conference title in the 10,000 meters with a personal-best time of 36:22.75. With the win, Davis became the first female in school history to win league title in 10,000 meters.
Throughout the season, Davis compiled three top-four finishes in the 5,000 meters. Competing in four events this season (800, 1,500, 5,000, 10,000), Davis set career bests in each event. Davis also was a member of the cross country team.
Davis was also honored for her academic and athletic success by TCU in April, as she was named TCU Scholar Athlete of the Month.
